Yoga Stars Interview With: Clara [YogiToronto]

YOGA STARS is part of a yoga interview feature campaign hosted by Vibrant Yogini where an experienced yoga teacher or enthusiast was interviewed about their beautiful journey learning yoga, as well as their newfound views as a yoga practitioner.

It was created to try and remove the gap between confident and expert yogi’s, and those who have just started to practice yoga or who are curious to learn more about it.

The truth is, and especially as an experienced yoga teacher myself, we never want you to feel intimidated or discouraged to start learning yoga.

Therefore, it is important to remember that each and every yoga teacher started fresh from the beginning as a newbie once upon a time.

So take a read of the yoga interviews and learn more about the experience of each participant as they share their story. The main aim of this campaign is to motivate you to continue your journey no matter where you are on it.

Designed to inspire your yoga practice and encourage you to follow your dreams.

This week’s Yoga Stars feature is hosted by Clara! Check out her beautiful and vibrant instagram feed: @YogiToronto

Where are you currently based?

Toronto.

Where are you originally from?

Guetemala.

When did you start practicing yoga and why?

I’ve been growing my yoga practice since 2008.

I was the kind of girl who was always trying new classes.

Dance, squash, pilates, HIIT, you name it.

I’ve tried them all, but it only took me one class to love yoga and I haven’t stopped since.

What got you hooked?

I enjoy the feeling I get after a yoga class.

Yoga makes me happy.

I think it’s fun, challenging and a way to love and learn more about yourself.

It has helped me commit to being healthier, better and stronger.

What is your favourite asana and why?

It depends on the moment.

Some days if i’m feeling all over the place or tired, Savasana is my favourite asana.

Other days, I love headstands because of how challenging they are for me and that energy boost that they give that can be better than coffee!

Where did you do your training/s and what courses have you completed?

I did my teacher training at Karma Teachers Toronto and received my 200 hour yoga teacher certification in December 2016.

How has yoga impacted your life?

Yoga has taught me to enjoy the present moment and experience every moment deeply.

I’ve learned that you can take yoga from the mat to your everyday life and that is why i’m always trying to be better, healthier and more present not only when i’m by myself, but also when i’m with others.

And the best part is i’ve met awesome friends along this journey.

Which type of yoga do you teach/ specialize in?

Vinyasa.

What do you enjoy about this particular style of yoga?

Co-ordinating movement with breath, and flowing from pose to pose forces you to be in the present moment. Your mind doesn’t have much time to be wandering off.

As a result, you end up in the class with a clear mind feeling refreshed.
