YOGA STARS is part of a feature campaign hosted by Vibrant Yogini where an experienced yoga teacher or enthusiast was interviewed about their beautiful journey learning yoga, as well as their newfound views as a yoga practitioner.
It was created to try and remove the gap between confident and expert yogi’s, and those who have just started to practice yoga or who are curious to learn more about it.
The truth is, and especially as an experienced yoga teacher myself, we never want you to feel intimidated or discouraged to start learning yoga.
Therefore, it is important to remember that each and every yoga teacher started fresh from the beginning as a newbie once upon a time.
So take a read of the interviews to learn how they share experience as a teacher and enthusiast! The main aim of this campaign is to motivate you to continue your journey no matter where you are on it.
Designed to inspire your yoga practice and encourage you to follow your dreams.

Where are you currently based?
Where are you originally from?
When did you start practicing yoga and why?
I was drawn to yoga in my late teens – around the year 2000- but back then there were very few yoga classes in the north of England. It was not mainstream.
Then, Geri Halliwell, the Spice Girl, brought out a yoga video and I used to practice that when I was at University. I would say my main motivation back then was to have a 6 pack!
That fizzled out, but I still had this desire to do yoga. It was a little thought that would pop up now and again.
I would always put blocks in my way though. Telling myself there wasn’t enough time, or that classes were too expensive etc.
Then in my my early 30s – about 4/ 5 years ago, I moved to a small surf village with a yoga class on practically every corner.
I had just had my second child, I was going to the gym 4 times a week and I started practicing Ashtanga twice a week.
My motivation at this point was to escape, to find some peace. Being a mother to 2 young children, with a husband that worked away 6 months of the year I was exhausted. I used to go just for the Savasana- plus it meant my husband had to do the bedtime routine so I got a night off 😉
What got you hooked?
As soon as I had my first Ashtanga lesson I knew I wanted to teach.
Then I started to do the Instagram challenges and I was hooked.
All these different asanas that weren’t in my usual practice. So beautiful and feminine.
That drew me into Vinyasa and I loved it.
Then I saw the fluid practice of teachers such as Meghan Currie, Erin Kelly and Steph Gongora and I knew that was the style for me. Graceful, strong, feminine, intuitive.
What is your favourite asana and why?
There are so many, I go through phases.
I actually love all the asanas they all challenge me in different ways.
The ones that I find physically challenging like pincha and handstand I love because they force me to challenge my beliefs about what I am capable of.
I love heart openers because of the intense energy I feel.
I feel the heart just bursting open with love.
My practice now is very sacred and emotional it has evolved so much.
I enjoy holding poses for a long time and really feeling everything I can out of them.
Where did you do your training/s and what courses have you completed?
I have completed the 200hr YTT with Routes of Yoga in Bali with the amazing teachers Daphne Charles and Anton Jager.
I can’t recommend them enough, I feel their presence strongly in my practice.
I have also done The Journey Training and the Revolution Yoga Anatomy TT Course with Sadie Nardini on ‘Udemy,’ an online platform.
That has been fantastic for me because I now have 3 young children and taking time off to do continuing education is difficult.
I have also booked to do my 300hr TT in Costa Rica next April with Erin Kelly and Steph Gongora, I can’t wait for that.
How has yoga impacted your life?
Whether I am riding high and can see everything from a higher perspective or I’m stuck learning a lesson and being triggered by life situations or people, I know that nothing is permanent, that I am on the right path.
I surrender to whatever lessons are coming my way and trust that everything I go through is making me stronger and wiser.
I am learning to listen more to my intuition.
I am calmer, and more confident.
I love myself and I am happy in my own company.
I’m nearly 36 and I finally have that 6 pack the 19 year old me wanted haha.

Which type of yoga do you teach/ specialize in?
I teach Vinyasa Flow, Restorative and Restorative Yoga Hypno – with a guided hypnotherapy session included.
What do you enjoy about this particular style of yoga?
My preferred type of yoga is Vinyasa Flow, I love the fluid, graceful, strength.
The beauty of the shapes flowing together is like art.
The mind is completely focused on this internal dance of the breath moving into areas of the body that have been neglected, that are tight and loaded with tension.
The challenge to what you perceive yourself to be capable of, and the high when you go beyond this.
What’s your mission as a yoga instructor?
As a yoga teacher and a hypnotherapist my mission is to take people deeper within themselves, to find their own inner teacher.
To lose their fears and start living from the heart.
To love themselves and believe that they are more than they could ever imagine.
And to help people find peace with themselves and people around them.
If you could give only one piece of advice to others who are looking to start yoga what would it be?
Don’t worry about not being good enough or the cost of a class.
There are so many free classes on YouTube that you don’t need to worry about going to expensive classes.
I’m on their too: Level Up Yoga Therapy. I will be uploading hypnosis, yoga hypno and flow classes very soon!
There is a reason you want to start, so listen to your inner teacher pushing you forward to take that first step, – and stick with it. Start a personal practice that’s where the magic happens.
My retreat in June is geared towards helping people start a personal practice.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone who is just starting out as a teacher what would it be?
Center yourself before every class, know this is your path and you are good enough.
Be yourself, I think we have so many yoga teachers now because there are so many different types of people doing yoga.
Know that somewhere out there is a tribe waiting to find you and your style of teaching.
We attract our tribe being our authentic self.
No one can do you like you.
Don’t compare yourself to anyone else and know that your best is always good enough.
What is one of your favorite mantras or affirmations that you don’t mind sharing?
Too many of these too! haha.
I am enough
I am loved
I am strong
