YOGA STARS is part of a feature campaign hosted by Vibrant Yogini where an experienced yoga teacher or enthusiast was interviewed about their beautiful journey learning yoga, as well as their newfound views as a yoga practitioner.
It was created to try and remove the gap between confident and expert yogi’s, and those who have just started to practice yoga or who are curious to learn more about it.
The truth is, and especially as an experienced yoga teacher myself, we never want you to feel intimidated or discouraged to start learning yoga.
Therefore, it is important to remember that each and every yoga teacher started fresh from the beginning as a newbie once upon a time.
So take a read of the yoga interviews and learn more about the experience of each participant as they share their story. The main aim of this campaign is to motivate you to continue your journey no matter where you are on it.
Designed to inspire your yoga practice and encourage you to follow your dreams.
This week’s Yoga Stars feature is hosted by Ola Jas! Check out her eye-catching and inspirational instagram feed: @OlaJasYoga

Where are you currently based?
Paris/ Ibiza/ Goa
Where are you originally from?
Born and raised up in Paris, Polish parents and over a decade of nomadism 🙂
When did you start practicing yoga and why?
I started Yoga out of curiosity, as there was apparently something beyond the postures. And actually that was the first ‘sport’ that could take the excel table (of sorting out my nomadic lifestyle and projects) out of my head.

What got you hooked?
Yoga is an endless journey.
At each phase of life, there is an accurate practice to develop our natural powers.
It is a self imposed discipline, so we are our own gurus, the teacher of our own experience, the one who decides.
I feel empowered by being able to choose.
Moreover it is a practice that embraces it all, a way of living. 24h state of Presence, maybe the key to Freedom 😉
What is your favourite asana and why?
I love flowing from one asana to another, slowing down the transition.
Balance is a sum of disequilibrium, and playing with my own balance, alignment and something within.
I also love handstands and splits.
How has yoga impacted your life?
Yoga is my red line and my guideline to move around (within my own body and around the world alike).
I love exploring the world and yoga is the greatest pretext, to keep learning always, from master I visit and from students alike.
This ever learning process is a source of rejuvenation at the same time as i acquire maturity!

Where did you do your training/s and what courses have you completed?
I studied over 5 years an Iyengar based course in Barcelona.
Than I practiced Ashtanga in India.
Vinyasa became my door to arise creativity.
I undertook acro-yoga with circus projects, which gave me an acrobatic base.
Besides I got involved in new forms of dancing, like ‘Contact Improvisation,’ which opened a field to investigate what I call “the qualities of the body.”
More recently I completed a Yinyasa TTC with Mathieu Boldron and a Synergy TTC with Simon Olivier Borg.
How has yoga impacted your life?
It’s become my North Star.
Which type of yoga do you teach/ specialize in?
vinyasa, yinyasa, synergy, acroyoga and thai massage and somatic explorations.
What do you love about this style of yoga?
I love the fluidity in motion, grab the poetry within the movement, feel alive, and work out my imagination, to extend further boundaries to perception.
What’s your mission as a yoga instructor/ enthusiast?
Everything begins with an inner smile.
When we connect to this inner source, we can experience absolute freedom within any constraint.
It is like finding expansion within your limits and condensing the matter when it tends to dilute… again and ever: a subtle quest of balance.
… Walking the tight line between the power of manifestation and letting go.
If you could give only one piece of advice to others who are looking to start yoga what would it be?
Just get out into nature and let yourself be inspired.
You can notice there the invisible world and little by little make the Prana a visible essence.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone who is just starting out as a teacher what would it be?
Let’s just assume you do not start to teach because you aim at making big money (perfect if it happens, but freelance work like this requires lot of passion!).
Then, think of what you would do if you were not concerned by all day matters, by the money, and imagine what would be your higher lifestyle.
Start living it with still a little sense of reality to complete administrative work and let’s see how life responds to it.
There are so many possibilities to feel happy by teaching yoga, in lost paradisiac destinations or in the middle of the urban jungle..
Once you know why you do it, the sense gives the joy and all the means align to help you fulfil the mission.
What is one of your favorite mantras or affirmations that you don’t mind sharing?
“Follow your Joy. You know, the higher one- no compromise, be accurate on what makes you really happy.”
What is one of your favorite yoga quotes?
““Let the loving information circulate in your body.” – Simon Borg

If you could have a secret power, what would in be?
Speak with Animals, heal wounds and create Magic… Somehow I started this path of Alchemy learning. 😉
